the wedding reception music conundrum

(wedding dress lace detail)

its now 6 1/2 weeks away and the final planning is..being planned. decorations etc. i also need to sort out music for the evening. this is a tough one, as our music taste would not go down well with other people. so how do we incorporate a bit of metallica, a bit of the specials etc into hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s? i was going to trawl through our cds and find tracks that had been played on the radio, thus making them familiar and not so scary. maybe some ska punk covers e.g. Reel Big Fish 'Take on Me'?

At my friends wedding she and her hubby made the song list and just asked for requests if and when, so that people wouldn't mind if the rest of the time was taken up with their music. The attendees didn't mind though as we were pretty much into the same music so had a great dance.

When we finally get married I want to take over the music list, there are so many songs I want and don't care if other people don't like them as it's my day!

PS my friend had 'Nothing Else Matters' for their first dance and 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' as their dance before everyone left. I have too many to choose from though haha.

hiya,

we had nothing else matters as our first song too - plus some sting (fields of gold) and some whitesnake... for the rest of the night we mixed everything in with some 60's, 80's and soem of our favourites - no-one seemed to mind at all.
